Knit a bow

Simple hand knit bow pattern.

Knitting this simple bow is so easy & all you need to know is how to cast on & bind off, how to knit & purl & how to sew up.

Let's start with what you need....

1 pair UK 4mm needles.
1 small scrap of DK yarn.
Darning needle to sew up.
(optional:- button for decoration, hair elastic or French hair clip)

Let us begin....

Cast on 15 stitches. Leave a tail of about 7"/18cm

The pattern is simple, it's just 1 row you repeat over & over until you reach the desired length

Pattern:- Knit 1 Purl 1 to end.

I usually continue until piece measures 7"/18cm, then bind off.

Fold the piece in half & sew up the cast on edge to the bind off edge. Again leave a 7"/18cm tail.

Take the 2 ends from casting on & binding off & wrap them around the centre of the bow & tie tight. Turn over & bring the 2 ends around to the back of the bow & tie a tight double knot.

Tah dah....one bow. What you want to do with it now is up to you. Sew it to a hat or a head band, or add a hair elastic or French hair clip to the back. You can even add a button or bead to the centre to decorate, the possibilities are endless.

Happy knitting
